Description

Pisana Apricot ``A`` Self-Fertile in a 20 cm pot - Large fruits, intense yellow with a red blush. Firm flesh. Ripens in early July. Does not produce on one-year-old branches, suitable for central-southern regions.
WARNING!!! PLANTS WILL BE PRUNED FOR TRANSPORT.

Apricot Prunus armeniaca (Rosaceae)

Prefers warm climates, tolerates drought, and is sensitive to humid areas. Vulnerable to late frosts. In colder regions, plant in a sunny and sheltered location. Grows in all types of soil, including calcareous. Wait 2 to 4 years for a good harvest.

PRUNING: It mainly flowers on one-year-old wood. Prune minimally to avoid promoting gummosis between December and February. Completely remove the suckers developed at the top of the canopy and the larger branches inside to allow sunlight to reach the fruits. A light summer pruning in June is also recommended, removing only the most vigorous suckers grown in the upper and inner parts of the tree.

POLLINATION: It is self-fertile in most cases. For newer varieties, it is advisable to associate with others that bloom at the same time.

PLANTING: Spacing from 5x3 to 4x4. Potted plants can be transplanted throughout the year, while bare-root saplings should be planted from December to the end of February. Do not shorten the roots too much.

Pest Treatments

Monilia: affects during flowering and fruit set and near ripening. The use of products containing “triforine” or “benzamidazoles” or “copper-based” can help.

Corineum and Anthracnose: indicated by perforated leaves; it is very concerning for early defoliation, so protection should be applied every year at the start of the growing season and after 15 days with products based on Tiram or Dodine.

Bacterial canker: dark spots on the underside of leaves that then dry out and fall prematurely. Preventively treat with copper-based products in winter and then during bud swelling.

Scale insects and Aphids.
