Description

Asparagus crowns ready to plant Classic Green Variety.

A historic French variety known as "Argentuil precoce" suitable, as its name suggests, for early green asparagus production.
Characterized by medium-large spears, it is the most well-known and widely used variety throughout Italy, with color variations that may differ slightly based on the specific variety used. The edible part is abundant and buttery with low fiber content. Once cooked, it has delicate aromas reminiscent of vegetable notes and wildflower scents that are also present in the taste. Excellent in the kitchen for preparing omelets, soups, pasta dishes, and risottos.

The package contains 10 crowns.

How to Grow Asparagus: Green, Purple, and Wild

Prepare a trench in an inverted trapezoid shape, 15-20 cm deep, 30 cm wide at the base, and 40 cm at the top, well-drained and enriched with organic matter.

The optimal time for transplanting is from November to April. The crowns should be placed in a single row at the bottom of the trench, spaced 30 cm apart (3 crowns per linear meter), ensuring the roots are spread out horizontally and covered immediately with 5 cm of soil.

The distance between rows varies from 100 to 20 cm. At the end of the first year of planting, cover with an additional 5 cm; it is recommended to harvest 2-3 asparagus per plant (this promotes the strengthening of the asparagus bed).

After harvesting (late spring to early summer), allow the foliage to develop and fertilize during the summer with nitrogen and potassium fertilizers. In autumn, when the foliage turns yellow, cut it back to ground level and fertilize with mature manure or similar products. During cultivation, keep the asparagus bed free from weeds.

Weeding should be very shallow. Water during dry periods.
