Clementine Mandarin - v. 24 cm - Apice Piante

The Clementine Mandarin withstands cold down to -5°C. Compact foliage. The fruits are small oranges that ripen in autumn. The skin is very thin and the flesh is very juicy. Fragrant white flowers in spring. Very similar to the Mandarin, but the fruits are seedless.

These trees cannot be grown in open ground outside temperate and mild climate zones. However, they are particularly suited for cultivation in pots. They are excellent ornamental plants due to their beautiful persistent foliage, glossy deep green on top and matte underneath. Slow-growing, they require little pruning to remove poorly positioned branches.

For planting in pots, prepare a mix consisting of 1/3 garden soil, 1/3 peat, and 1/3 potting soil, which, on a bed of gravel at the bottom of the pot, will ensure drainage. During the growing season, watering is necessary. Twice a month, the addition of an appropriate fertilizer will be sufficient.

During the warm season, a sheltered, semi-sunny exposure is best; avoid permanent shade. In winter, the plants should stay in a bright room, protected from frost, but without excessive temperature (maximum 15°C). A light watering twice a month will be sufficient.
