Mandarin - 24 cm - Apice Piante

Compact-growing Mandarin. It withstands cold down to -5°C. The leaves are ovate-oblong and ovate-lanceolate. The fruits, medium-sized, are orange. The skin is fragrant, thin, and loosely adheres to the pulp, which is yellow, juicy, and sweet. Fragrant flowering in spring, fruits in late autumn.

These trees cannot be grown in open ground outside temperate and mild climate zones. However, they are particularly suited for cultivation in pots. They are excellent ornamental plants due to their beautiful persistent foliage, glossy deep green on top and dull underneath. Slow-growing, they require little pruning to remove poorly positioned branches.

For planting in pots, prepare a mix composed of 1/3 garden soil, 1/3 peat, and 1/3 potting soil, which, on a bed of gravel at the bottom of the pot, will ensure drainage. During the growing season, watering is necessary. Twice a month, the addition of an appropriate fertilizer will be sufficient.

During the warm season, a sheltered half-sunny exposure is best, avoiding permanent shade. In winter, the plants should stay in a bright location, protected from frost, but without excessive temperature (15°C maximum). A light watering twice a month will be sufficient.
