Low-vigor bushy shrub, ranging in height from 50 to 150 cm, with spiny branches and stems, production mainly occurs on two-year-old branches from mixed or flowering buds. The flowers, generally self-fertile, are single and also large in size.

PLANTING: Can be grown throughout Italy but is sensitive to drought; prefers loose soils, and for heavy soils, add fertilized peat to the planting hole. Planting distance: 0.50 to 1 m in the row and 200-250 cm between rows.

CULTIVATION: Rustic crop, requires little care, emergency watering during the summer, and balanced mineral fertilization with a predominance of nitrogen in spring and organic fertilization in late autumn. Can also be grown in pots with careful frequent watering and fertilization with slow-release fertilizers or fertigation.

PRUNING: At planting, leave 2 or 3 buds per branch; in subsequent years, keep 6 to 8 branches and remove the branches that have produced. Prune at the end of winter.

TREATMENTS: In dry environments and for hobbyist cultivation, fungicide treatments are usually not necessary; however, two interventions are recommended, the first in autumn and the second at the start of vegetative growth with copper and wettable sulfur salts to prevent major adversities.
