Description
Description
The self-compensating drip tube with Ø 16 mm is the tube that delivers water to the base of the plant, drop by drop, without wetting the leaves and without wastage. The emitters are already integrated into the wall of the tube, at regular intervals: just lay the line along the row, connect it, and turn on the water.
Why self-compensating
Inside each emitter, there is a membrane that deforms with changes in pressure and regulates the flow of water. The result is that the flow rate remains at 2 l/h from the first to the last hole, even when the row is long or the ground is sloped, as long as the pressure remains between 1.0 and 2.5 bar. On a traditional wing, however, the first emitters deliver more water than the last ones.
Technical specifications
- External diameter: 16 mm
- Wall thickness: 1.1 mm
- Nominal flow rate: 2 l/h per emitter
- Operating pressure: from 1.0 to 2.5 bar
- Emitter: self-compensating membrane type, long-lasting
- Available spacing: 20, 33 or 40 cm
- Roll lengths: 25, 50 or 100 meters
How to choose the spacing
The spacing is the distance between one emitter and the next, and it determines how continuous the watering will be along the row.
- 20 cm – nearly continuous watering, for dense rows and closely spaced vegetables.
- 33 cm – the most commonly used spacing in gardens, a good compromise between coverage and water consumption.
- 40 cm – for spaced plants: rows, hedges, wide-spaced trees.
As a rule of thumb: the closer the plants are to each other and the looser and sandier the soil, the narrower the spacing should be; on clayey soils, where water distributes laterally, wider spacing can be used.
Installation tips
- Always install a filter upstream of the system: the emitters have very small passages and impurities are the main cause of clogging.
- Check the line pressure with a manometer and, if the system is fed directly from the mains, use a pressure reducer to stay within the 1.0 – 2.5 bar range.
- Lay the wing in the sun before placing it: the tube stretches and maintains a straighter line better.
- Close the end of the line with an end cap and, at the beginning of the season, let the water run at the open end for a few minutes to flush out any residues.
Available in seven formats: 20 cm spacing in a 100 m roll, 33 and 40 cm spacing in rolls of 25, 50, and 100 m.
