Description
Description
LAUREL HEDGE in a 15 cm pot for the garden - Evergreen shrub, dense and compact, with glossy, leathery leaves, which can be used to form tall hedges. When grown as a solitary plant, it may become too large for small gardens, but in larger spaces, its dense foliage can be ideal for creating screens.
Features:
The flowers: are white, bloom in spring, and are grouped in spikes. The scent of the flowers is unfortunately unpleasant, but since they only bloom on mature wood, it is sufficient to prune the branches to prevent flowering. In autumn, the flowers produce berries that are highly favored by birds, making the laurel hedge a useful addition to gardens for those who wish to attract small birds.
Young plants can be planted from autumn to spring, while potted ones can be transplanted year-round with watering to help them establish.
Watering
The laurel hedge thrives in moist soils, and once established, it does not require further watering.
Soil
This shrub has difficulties if the soil is too alkaline (a pH between 5.5 and 7.5 is recommended), it requires moist soils and an additional amount of organic matter.
Propagation: it propagates by cutting (to be taken in summer), does not require pruning, and withstands cold well. In colder areas, it is better to choose the Schipkaensis variety.
This plant is certified by the European Plant Health Service of Italy and Abruzzo.
