Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Sun, with shade during the hot summer hours. Growth is favored at 15–24 °C; protect early transplants, as prolonged cold can encourage premature flowering.
Soil and Transplanting
Very fertile and draining soil, capable of retaining moisture, pH 6–7. Generally 25 cm in-row and 40–50 cm between rows. For heads and celeriac, prefer May to mid-June; for aromatic leaves, the window is wider.
Watering
Water frequently in summer, allowing the surface to dry just slightly. Thin out interventions in autumn and avoid waterlogging.
Fertilization
Generous initial fertilization 2–3 weeks before transplanting; support growth with distributed applications, approximately every twenty days.
Care and Harvesting
Weed, mulch in summer, and protect in cold weather. Gradually harvest the outer leaves for aromatic use; for the heads, wait for adequate development. Celeriac generally has a longer cycle.
