Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Soil
Sun, with slight summer shade. Fertile, loose, draining, and well-crumbled soil, preferably pH 6.5–7. Stones and compact soil deform the roots.
Transplanting
Generally 5 cm in the row and 25 cm between rows. From February, protected where necessary, to September depending on the climate.
Watering
Small frequent waterings until establishment; then allow the surface to dry between interventions. During the final swelling, keep the soil moist, without deficiencies or waterlogging.
Fertilization
Organic matter well in advance or on the previous crop; during growth, favor balanced contributions rich in potassium.
Care and Harvesting
Shallow hoeing to keep the soil soft and free from weeds. Protect with non-woven fabric during cold periods. Harvest according to the variety cycle and root development.
