Description
Description
Cuore Ligure Tomato var. Diablo Top F1 is a new professional heart from the western Riviera, featuring large fruits (250-300 g) that are firmer and more shelf-stable than common Ligurian hearts.
This allows for a longer stay on the plant without splitting or becoming too soft.
The fruits have a full flesh and do not develop green or yellow shoulders at maturity.
The plant is vigorous, bushy, and highly productive even in the height of summer; it is suitable for both open fields and greenhouses.
Excellent tolerance to blossom end rot.
Diablo Top is naturally resistant to nematodes, TSWV virus, Cladosporium, nematodes, and common root diseases.
Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Choose full sun; in summer, light shading during the hottest hours is beneficial. Optimal growth at 20–24 °C; protect early transplants from cold.
Soil and Transplanting
Fertile and well-draining soil, preferably pH 6–7. Transplant from March, under protection, to August, depending on the climate. Generally space 40–50 cm in-row and 100 cm between rows; for sauce varieties, even 30 cm in-row.
Watering
Water regularly at the base, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Increase water during flowering and fruit swelling; avoid waterlogging and sudden shifts from drought to heavy watering.
Fertilization
Incorporate mature organic matter before transplanting. Distribute nutrients throughout the cycle, emphasizing potassium for production and avoiding excess nitrogen.
Care and Harvesting
Mulch. For stake tomatoes, provide supports and periodically remove suckers; for bush varieties, do not remove them. Harvest according to the variety and use: for sauce, prefer well-ripened fruits. Cut the stem if detaching risks damaging the plant.
