Sun, with partial shade during the hot summer hours. Growth is favored at 15–25 °C; tolerance to heat and cold depends on the variety.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile and draining soil, pH 6–7. Generally, 20–25 cm in the row and 40 cm between rows. In cubes, leave at least one-third of the clod above the soil. Choose varieties suitable for the season; transplanting every 10–15 days allows for staggered harvests.

Watering

Keep the soil moist without waterlogging, allowing the surface to dry. Increase frequency in the heat; near harvest, water at the base, avoiding the foliage.

Fertilization

Moderate inputs before transplanting; intervene again after 2–3 weeks according to development.
