Description
Until 2013, it was the hottest chili in the world. The Trinidad Scorpion gets its name from the shape of the fruit, which resembles the tail of a scorpion, but some say it comes from the fact that tasting a scorpion generates a burning sensation similar to that of a scorpion sting. It has an exotic fruit flavor and an extraordinary citrus aroma. Excellent for producing extremely spicy powders and oils.

Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Sun, gradually acclimating the plants to direct light. In the heat, provide shade for small pots. Favorable growth at 20–30 °C; it is sensitive to cold and frost.
Soil and Transplanting
Fertile and well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after the cold, typically from mid-April in mild areas, May in the north, later in hilly regions. Distances vary according to the vigor of the variety.
Watering
Water regularly, waiting for the surface to dry. Increase watering as growth and heat increase; avoid waterlogging and deficiencies during flowering. In pots, empty the saucer of excess water.
Fertilization
Enrich the soil before transplanting. Prefer balanced fertilizers without excessive nitrogen; in the field, repeat feeding approximately every month.
Pot, Care, and Harvesting
For repotting, choose containers of 20–40 cm, proportionate to the plant, with effective drainage. Use a stake for plants over 35 cm tall. Regularly harvest ripe fruits to encourage new production; the mature color depends on the variety.
