Il consiglio dell'ortolano
Irrigation should be repeated when the soil is dry on the surface, to avoid stagnation or excessive vigor to the detriment of fruit production.

Description

Super hot yellow Scorpion chili pepper, a highly productive plant with typical yellow fruits when ripe. It grows very well even in large pots. Exotic fruit flavor and extraordinary citrus aroma. Excellent for producing extremely spicy powders and oils. Pairs very well with meat, fish, and vegetables.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Sun, gradually acclimating the plants to direct light. In heat, shade the small pots. Favorable growth at 20–30 °C; sensitive to cold and frost.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile and well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after the cold, typically from mid-April in mild areas, May in the north, later in hilly regions. Distances vary according to the vigor of the variety.

Watering

Water regularly, waiting for the surface to dry. Increase watering with growth and heat; avoid stagnation and deficiencies during flowering. In pots, empty the saucer of excess water.

Fertilization

Enrich the soil before transplanting. Prefer balanced fertilizers without excess nitrogen; in the field, repeat feeding approximately every month.

Pot, Care, and Harvesting

For repotting, choose containers of 20–40 cm, proportionate to the plant, with effective drainage. Use a stake for plants over 35 cm tall. Regularly harvest ripe fruits to encourage new production; the mature color depends on the variety.
