Il consiglio dell'ortolano
Irrigation should be repeated when the soil is dry on the surface, to avoid stagnation or excessive vigor to the detriment of fruit production.

Description

Collection plant, a rare and very unique variety. Its fruits are very dark, almost black, and when they ripen, they do not change color. The plant is tall and produces beautiful white-purple flowers.
Spicy fruits with excellent aroma, ideal for powder production. The plant is special for garden decoration. A variety that should not be missing in chili collections and cultivations.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Sun, gradually acclimating the plants to direct light. In the heat, provide shade for small pots. Favorable growth at 20–30 °C; it is sensitive to cold and frost.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile and draining soil. Transplant outdoors after the cold, usually from mid-April in mild areas, May in the north, later in hilly regions. Distances vary according to the vigor of the variety.

Watering

Water regularly, waiting for the surface to dry. Increase watering with growth and heat; avoid waterlogging and deficiencies during flowering. In pots, empty the saucer of excess water.

Fertilization

Enrich the soil before transplanting. Prefer balanced fertilizers without excess nitrogen; in the field, repeat feeding approximately every month.

Pot, Care, and Harvesting

For repotting, choose containers of 20–40 cm, proportionate to the plant, with effective drainage. Use a stake for heights over 35 cm. Regularly harvest ripe fruits to encourage new production; the mature color depends on the variety.
