The Mesembryanthemum is a plant of African origin, very easy to grow and quite striking. It is a perennial succulent that forms compact bushes, with trailing stems and needle-like gray-green leaves.
It prefers full sun and sheltered positions. It is extremely heat-resistant and is indeed recommended for seaside gardens, as it withstands both intense heat and saltiness from the sea breeze.
Suitable for pots and shallow bowls, it should be repotted every year, slightly increasing the pot diameter.
