Description

Canestrino di Lucca F1 Grafted Tomato

Orto Mio — 1 grafted plant in a 10 cm pot. Canestrino F1 produces basket-shaped tomatoes with thin skin and soft flesh. It is suitable for both garden and greenhouse, with fruits to be used fresh or in sauces. This offer includes one grafted plant.

Variety Characteristics

  • Exposure: Full sun
  • Estimated harvest from transplant: 65 days
  • Transplant spacing: 50 × 100 cm

Times, weights, and sizes are indicative and vary with climate and cultivation. The plant received may have different sizes and development from the photo; the same development is not guaranteed.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Choose full sun; in summer, light shading during the hottest hours is beneficial. Optimal growth at 20–24 °C; protect early transplants from cold.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile, well-draining soil, preferably pH 6–7. Transplant from March, under protection, to August, depending on the climate. Generally space 40–50 cm in-row and 100 cm between rows; for sauce varieties, also 30 cm in-row.

Watering

Water regularly at the base, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Increase water during flowering and fruit swelling; avoid waterlogging and sudden shifts from drought to heavy watering.

Fertilization

Incorporate mature organic matter before transplanting. Distribute nutrients throughout the cycle, emphasizing potassium during production and avoiding excess nitrogen.

Care and Harvesting

Mulch. For stake tomatoes, provide supports and periodically remove suckers; for bush types, do not remove them. Harvest according to variety and use: for sauce, prefer well-ripened fruits. Cut the stem if detaching risks damaging the plant.

Care for Grafted Plants

For grafted formats, keep the grafting point above the soil and remove any shoots growing from the rootstock. Adjust supports and spacing for increased vigor.
