Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Full sun. Favorable growth at 18–30 °C; wait for mild conditions and absence of cold returns.
Soil and Transplanting
Deep, well-draining soil, preferably pH 6–7.5. Transplanting from late April to June, generally 100 cm in-row and 150 cm between rows.
Watering
Moderate after transplanting, allowing the surface to dry; regulate in the heat, from flowering throughout production. Avoid waterlogging.
Fertilization
Moderate inputs at transplanting, with organic matter and balanced nutrition rich in potassium; repeat approximately every month.
Care and Harvesting
In clay soils, raise the beds; hoe and mulch in the early stages. Harvest tender pods 5–6 days after flowering, before the seeds fully develop; also remove any fibrous fruits.
