Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Full sun or partial shade; in small pots during summer, avoid the hottest sun. Growth is favored at 15–26 °C; protect flowering from cold snaps.
Soil and Transplanting
Rich, well-draining soil with organic matter, pH 5.5–7. Keep the crown visible, do not bury it. Single row: 30 cm in-row and 100 cm between rows. Prefer spring for everbearing varieties and late summer for June-bearing.
Watering
Keep the soil moist, never soggy. Drip irrigation is useful to avoid wetting leaves and fruits. For summer transplants, use small, frequent waterings until established.
Fertilization
Fractional and not overly concentrated applications: strawberries are sensitive to salinity. Potassium is important after fruit formation.
Care and Harvesting
Mulch and shade new summer transplants. June-bearing: spring harvest; everbearing: extended production. Harvest ripe fruits frequently, depending on temperature and variety.
