Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Soil
Full sun or partial shade for a few hours. Preferably sandy, poor, and well-draining soil, pH 6–8; tolerates salinity.
Transplanting
Generally 10 cm in the row and 20–30 cm between rows. From late February, protected, to June.
Watering
Water until establishment, waiting for the surface to dry; then thin out. Before harvesting, keep the soil cool to achieve tender vegetation. Avoid waterlogging.
Fertilization
Moderate applications of organic matter about a month before transplanting.
Care and Harvesting
Shallow hoeing, even after cuts. Harvest at 15–20 cm in height, cutting about 5 cm above the soil as long as stems and leaves are young. In favorable conditions, further regrowth follows.
