Description

Betti Cabbage Resistant to Cabbage Root Fly

Orto Mio — 6 plants. The Betti cultivar is confirmed in the current text from the producer. The resistance pertains to certain strains of cabbage root fly and does not equate to universal immunity.

Variety Characteristics

  • Exposure: Sun
  • Harvest time from transplanting: 80 days
  • Transplanting distance: 50 × 50 cm
  • Weight: 2.5 kg

Harvest times, weight, and sizes are indicative and depend on climate, soil, and cultivation management.

Indicative photo: the plant received may have different sizes and development. The shown development is not guaranteed.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Prefer sun; some varieties also produce in partial shade with at least six hours of sun. Favorable growth at 15–22 °C; frost resistance depends on the cultivar.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile, cool, and well-draining soil, pH 6–7. Generally 35–50 cm in-row and 50–70 cm between rows. Spring or summer transplants depending on the expected harvest and varietal cycle.

Watering

Avoid drought and waterlogging. Moderate watering after transplanting; maintain good water availability during head swelling.

Fertilization

Initial fertilization rich in organic matter; support development with balanced nutrition without excess nitrogen.

Care and Harvesting

Weed every 15–20 days in the early stages; protect with non-woven fabric during cool periods. Harvest the head when it is full and firm, cutting 5–10 cm below the head; avoid excessive waiting that promotes splitting.
