Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Soil
Full sun; fertile, cool, and well-draining soil, preferably pH 6.5–7. Protect from frost.
Transplanting
From mid-May, generally 80 cm in-row and 100 cm between rows.
Watering
Water regularly during the summer, adjusting the amount to the soil conditions.
Fertilization
Rich initial organic fertilization; monthly applications until one month before harvest.
Care and Harvesting
Weed in the early stages. About a month before harvest, proceed with blanching using wrapping or hilling, working on dry plants. Harvest generally after about 120 days, in autumn–winter depending on the area, cutting at the collar.
