Description
Durone Cherry of Vignola is a heritage variety with medium-sized fruits of bright dark red color. Juicy, sweet-tart flesh. Slow to bear fruit, average productivity is inconsistent.
Maturation at the end of June.
Cherry Prunus avium (Rosaceae) Productive in all regions. Grows in all soils except clayey and overly wet ones.
PRUNING: Should be done every year at the end of winter before budding and is limited to balancing the vegetation and thinning the center of the tree. Avoid removing thick branches. A light summer pruning in June is also recommended, exclusively removing the most vigorous suckers that have grown in the upper and inner parts of the tree. Planting distance from 5x4 to 6x6.
POLLINATION: Non-self-fertile cherry varieties require pollinator varieties nearby to fruit properly. Pest control treatments
Monilia: affects during flowering and fruit set and near the maturation of the fruits. The use of products containing “triforines” or “benzamidazoles” or “copper-based” can help.
Corineo and Anthracnose: is evident with perforated leaves; it is very concerning due to early defoliation, and therefore defense should be carried out every year at the start of vegetative growth and after 15 days with products based on Tiram or Dodine.
