Description

New. Firm tomato over 250 gr. Tolerant to cracking and blossom end rot. Thanks to its natural resistance to Downy Mildew, it is attacked by the fungus later than sensitive varieties. It appreciates generous organic fertilization.
The cultivation of grafted plants has several advantages:
- Increases the vigor and yield of the plant.
- The excellent root system provides better yield and larger fruit size.
- Improves the plants' resistance to low temperatures.
- Enhances the plants' resistance to diseases and pests.
- Grafted plants produce more and for a longer time.
- Particularly suitable for those with limited space.

Cultivation:
- Transplant from March (in a sheltered location) until the end of June.
- Space 30 cm apart in the row and 60 cm between rows.
- Water abundantly at transplanting, then provide consistent, moderate irrigation.
- Do not fertilize until the first fruits have started to swell.
- It is necessary to remove the lateral shoots (suckers) that develop at the base of the leaves.
- Fruit rot is caused by a lack of calcium and water imbalances: water better and provide calcium.

Important: Transplant away from potato tubers.

Bio Tip: Plant nasturtium, marigold, and also basil near tomato plants; they protect against aphids and some pests while keeping the soil cool.

Rich in vitamin C, lycopene, calcium, potassium, and fiber.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Choose full sun; in summer, light shading during the hottest hours is beneficial. Optimal growth at 20–24 °C; protect early transplants from cold.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile and well-draining soil, preferably pH 6–7. Transplanting from March, under protection, to August, depending on the climate. Generally space 40–50 cm in the row and 100 cm between rows; for sauce varieties, also 30 cm in the row.

Watering

Water regularly at the base, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Increase water during flowering and fruit swelling; avoid waterlogging and sudden shifts from drought to heavy watering.

Fertilization

Incorporate mature organic matter before transplanting. Distribute nutrients throughout the cycle, emphasizing potassium during production and avoiding excess nitrogen.

Care and Harvesting

Mulch. For pole tomatoes, provide supports and periodically remove suckers; for dwarf varieties, do not remove them. Harvest according to the variety and use: for sauce, prefer well-ripened fruits. Cut the stem if detaching risks damaging the plant.

Precautions for Grafted Plants

For grafted varieties, keep the grafting point above the soil and remove any shoots that grow from the rootstock. Adjust supports and spacing to accommodate greater vigor.
