Growing Tips
Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.
Exposure and Temperature
Sun, with shading during hot summer hours. Growth favored at 15–24 °C; protect early transplants, as prolonged cold can promote premature flowering.
Soil and Transplanting
Very fertile and draining soil, capable of retaining moisture, pH 6–7. Generally 25 cm in the row and 40–50 cm between rows. For bunches and celeriac, prefer May to mid-June; for aromatic leaves, the window is wider.
Watering
Water frequently in summer, allowing the surface to dry slightly. Thin out interventions in autumn and avoid waterlogging.
Fertilization
Generous initial fertilization 2–3 weeks before transplanting; support growth with distributed contributions, approximately every twenty days.
Care and Harvesting
Weed, mulch in summer, and protect from the cold. Gradually harvest the outer leaves for aromatic use; for bunches, wait for adequate development. Celeriac generally has a longer cycle.
