The Piennolo Vesuviano Tomato is an ancient specialty that enhances its organoleptic qualities in the cultivations at the foothills of Vesuvius. The oval berries, with slight ridges, have a pointed and pronounced tip and thick skin.
The preservation method, tied and hung "al piennolo", has earned it the famous name. The "al piennolo" preservation, in ventilated environments, allows for the consumption of the cherry tomatoes until the end of winter.
For winter preservation, the clusters are harvested when at least 70% of the tomatoes are ripe and the last ones at the tip are maturing.
The Piennolo from Vesuvius can be used for both irrigated cultivation and dry farming.
The grafted plant is resistant to many significant root diseases.
