Description

Salanova Smooth Green Lettuce Aquino

Orto Mio — 9 plants. Aquino is a compact head variety of Salanova smooth green lettuce. The numerous leaves separate easily at the cut and can be harvested gradually from the outside. This variety is suitable for greenhouses for winter harvests.

Variety Characteristics

  • Exposure: Sun
  • Indicative harvest time from transplanting: 35-80 days
  • Transplanting distance: 15 × 40 cm
  • Weight: 400 g

Times, weights, and sizes are indicative and vary with climate and cultivation. The plant received may have different sizes and development from the photo; the same development is not guaranteed.

Growing Tips

Orto Mio guidelines for the species, to be adapted to the variety, local climate, and cultivation in soil or pots.

Exposure and Temperature

Sun, with partial shade during hot summer hours. Growth is favored at 15–25 °C; tolerance to heat and cold depends on the variety.

Soil and Transplanting

Fertile and draining soil, pH 6–7. Generally 20–25 cm in-row and 40 cm between rows. In cubes, leave at least one-third of the clod above the soil. Choose varieties suitable for the season; transplanting every 10–15 days allows for staggered harvests.

Watering

Keep the soil moist without waterlogging, allowing the surface to dry. Increase frequency in the heat; near harvest, water at the base, avoiding the foliage.

Fertilization

Moderate inputs before transplanting; intervene again after 2–3 weeks according to development.

Care and Harvesting

Weed between the rows and protect with non-woven fabric or tunnels during cold periods. Harvest the head when the heart is full, or progressively take some outer leaves. The cycle varies from approximately 30–40 days in summer to 80–100 in winter.
