The plant can be trained both in volume: pot, spindle, column,..; and in flattened forms: various types of palmetto.

PRUNING: Varies depending on the training method; in any case, care should be taken to remove the water sprouts located in the upper part of the crown, to allow for good development of the vegetation below and ensure the right number of flower buds. A light summer pruning in June is also recommended.

PLANTING DISTANCE: From 5x3 to 4x4 for volume forms, from 4x1 to 5x3 for flattened forms. The flowering is late, so it is advisable to plant multiple varieties to improve productivity.

POLLINATION: The best pollinator varieties are: ‘Golden Delicious’ and ‘Starking’.

Pest control treatments

Scab: it is the most threatening fungal disease in apples; defense begins with a preventive treatment at the appearance of green tips or mouse ears, using copper salts or calcium polysulfide, and continues with covering products.

Powdery mildew: one or two treatments before flowering with specific systemic products.

Codling moth: defense is based on the use of sexual traps to determine when it is appropriate to treat; usually, it is necessary to intervene with insecticides that provide coverage for 25-30 days.

Red spider mite: intervene with proven effective acaricides, taking care not to use the same product more than twice to avoid resistance issues.
