Mesembryanthemum is a plant of African origin, very easy to grow and very scenic. It is a succulent perennial that forms compact bushes, with groundcover stems and needle-like green-gray leaves.
It prefers full sun and sheltered positions. It is very resistant to heat and in fact it is recommended for seaside gardens, because it tolerates both intense heat and saltiness and brackish winds.
Suitable for low pots and bowls, it should be repotted every year, slightly increasing the diameter of the pot.
