Description

Thornless red raspberry, primocane-fruiting, a vigorous cultivar with good productivity and high suckering activity: it prefers fresh soils and avoids high-altitude planting.

Some info on Raspberries:

Scientific name: Raspberry Rubus idaeus L. (Rosaceae)

Shrubby plant, 80 to 250 cm tall, with a perennial rootstock and biennial, partially erect branches called suckers in the first year and fruiting canes in the second. In many varieties, suckers also fruit in the first year.

Varieties are divided into UNIFEROUS, which produce large fruits in a single period, and EVERBEARING, which produce for several months.

PLANTING: It can be cultivated throughout Italy; it prefers loose soils, and peat moss should be added to the hole in heavy soils. Plants should be arranged in rows 40-50 cm apart in the row and 200-250 cm between rows. It is advisable to set up a trellis system with posts 200 cm apart and three support wires to which the main branches will be secured.

CULTIVATION: A hardy crop, it requires little care, emergency irrigation in summer, balanced mineral fertilization with a prevalence of nitrogen in spring, and organic fertilization in late autumn. It can also be grown in pots, ensuring frequent irrigation and fertilization with slow-release fertilizers or fertigation.

PRUNING: In winter, two-year-old canes that have fruited are removed, and if necessary, one-year-old suckers are thinned.

TREATMENTS: In dry environments and for hobby cultivation, fungicide treatments are usually not necessary; however, two treatments are recommended, the first in autumn and the second at the beginning of vegetative growth, with copper salts and wettable sulfur to prevent major adversities.
