Also known as "cummarazzi" or "carosello salentino", the Meloncella or spuredda is one of the most interesting and sought-after Apulian delicacies in the summer season. Very similar to melon, it produces dark, striped, elongated fruits with firm, crunchy, digestible and refreshing pulp. Ideal for consumption in salads, instead of cucumber, or as an appetizer, with cold pasta and also as an accompaniment to dishes instead of bread.
