The "Piel de sapo" green melon is among the most loved in summer for its sweet and thirst-quenching taste.
It has a shelf life of many days after harvesting. The rind has the classic green color in two shades, and upon ripening, it shows an extended netting on the surface.
The white flesh is very full, crunchy but not excessively hard, with a good sugar content.
Valeoso is among the most productive and easy-to-grow professional varieties, with fruits that can exceed 3 kg in weight, always very homogeneous.
It has a very vigorous and healthy plant, which grows well even in poor soils and in difficult climatic conditions of hot summers with episodes of heavy thunderstorms.
Valeoso is naturally resistant to powdery mildew, aphids, and fusarium wilt.
Fertilization with low-nitrogen and high-potassium fertilizers is suggested. Organic copper treatments are appreciated in case of rain and if the vegetation is particularly exuberant.
Water moderately, suspending irrigation in the final stages of ripening, in order to favor a high sugar content of the fruits and a long shelf life.
Valeoso has a medium ripening cycle and is harvested when the rind turns a slightly golden color, distinguishable by comparing younger fruits with those in more advanced ripening.
It has an important range of resistances that facilitates organic cultivation, which includes powdery mildew, melon aphid, MNSV virus, and fusarium wilt (Fom 0,1).

The rind has the typical, very bright green color. It has a very vigorous and productive plant. The flesh is crunchy, sweet, and thirst-quenching. It produces 2-3 fruits weighing over 2.5 kg, with good shelf life. It is naturally resistant to the most important root diseases (Fom 0,2) and powdery mildew. Some treatments with sulfur (Organic) starting 45 days after transplanting will help prevent powdery mildew. Suspend irrigation in the final stage of ripening to improve preservation and sweetness.
