Hazel Corylus (Betulaceae)
Very rustic for all climates and for even calcareous soils as long as they are draining. Planting distance from 4 to 5 m.
POLLINATION:
The hazelnut is monoecious: there are male flowers (pollen) and female flowers (nuts) on the same plant; they are borne on the branches of the previous year and generally bloom with a time lag of a few days to a few weeks between the 2 types of flowers. Therefore, good pollination must be ensured by planting different and compatible varieties.
PRUNING:
It is a maintenance pruning to promote the balance of the plant and renew the old branches that have a tendency to become bare.
