Description
The Mantuan "Cappello del prete" pumpkin is an ancient Padan excellence, historically grown in the territories of Mantua and Reggio Emilia, but also widespread in the countryside of Parma, Piacenza, Pavia and Alessandria. It has a "turban" shape, composed of two layers. Weight of 2-4 kg.
The pulp is orange, firm and dry, not very fibrous, perfect for filling tortelli and for lasagna, risotto and gnocchi.
Also excellent for mustards, sauces and oil preserves. Vigorous plant, with long shoots that grow horizontally. It is harvested when at least 50% of the fruit stalk is woody.
Can be stored for over 10 months in optimal conditions.
