Small tree no more than 4 meters high, with an expanded, irregular crown. The leaves, a little petiolate, have a vale or rhombic contour blade, incised, not too deeply, in more or less triangular lobes. The flowers are white. The fruit is a globose apple no wider than 2 cm in wild plants and up to 4 cm in cultivated varieties. It prefers hilly slopes with good exposure, in particular in the climatic zone of the downy oak and the holm oak, with a clayey or calcareous substrate.
