Description
Description
15 cm potted CERASOL hedge for the garden - Evergreen shrub, thick and compact, with shiny and leathery leaves, which can be used to form tall hedges. If grown as a solitary plant it can be too large for small gardens, but in larger spaces it can be ideal, thanks to its thick foliage, to form screens.
Characteristics:
The flowers: they are white, they bloom in spring and are gathered in spikes. The smell of the flowers is unfortunately unpleasant, but since these only bloom on mature wood, it is sufficient to prune the branches to prevent flowering. In autumn the flowers produce berries that are much loved by birds, this means that the cherry laurel can be usefully planted in your garden by those who want to attract birds.
Young plants can be planted from autumn to spring, while potted plants can be transplanted all year round, watering them to take root.
Watering
Cherry laurel grows in moist soil, and once it has taken root, it does not require further watering.
Land
This shrub has difficulties if the soil is too alkaline (a pH between 5.5 and 7.5 is recommended), it requires moist soil and the addition of additional organic material.
Propagation: it is propagated by cutting (to be taken in summer), does not require pruning, and resists the cold well. In colder areas it is better to choose the Schipkaensis variety.
This plant is equipped with a European patent from the Italian and Abruzzo Phytosanitary Service.
