Perlite is a volcanic rock that expands its volume up to 20 times its original volume when subjected to high temperatures. The structure of the granules is characterized by the presence of open and closed porosity. The simultaneous presence of these characteristics is such as to give the rock a high transpiration power and at the same time high impermeability to water in the core of the granule. Expanded perlite is a stable and chemically inert product, compatible with the criteria of eco-sustainability and bio-architecture (ANAB-ICEA certification). Perlite, thanks to its chemical-physical characteristics, is an excellent inorganic matrix for: soil mixtures, cuttings, lightening containers, preparation of cube mixtures, propagation of flowering plants, garden and vegetable gardens, pricking out (transferring young plants born from seed from a pot or a seedling tray to larger containers). Perlite, mixed with the soil, improves the physical characteristics of the substrate making it softer and more aerated, with a high water drainage capacity, facilitating the root development of the crops.
