Description

MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO is an anti-parasitic collar against sandflies and mosquitoes. It helps reduce the risk of contracting a very serious disease: leishmaniasis.

Length: 48 cm.
Prevents ticks and mosquitoes for 6 months.
Prevents fleas for 4 months.
Prevents sandfly bites for 5 months.

Once worn, MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO releases its active ingredient, deltamethrin, day after day, which is distributed on the dog's skin, offering the animal protection for the entire season.
This innovative technology “attaches” deltamethrin to the dog’s skin.

MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO is practical and protects your dog from sandfly bites for 5 months. A simple gesture for an entire season, without the risk of forgetting to apply it.

ACTIVITY OF DELTAMETHRIN:
Deltamethrin is a substance belonging to the category of synthetic pyrethroids, capable of protecting the dog from sandfly bites: it has a topical action, that is, it is not absorbed through the animal's skin, but is deposited in the skin fat forming a protective barrier against sandflies. The protective action of deltamethrin is due to the "anti-feeding" effect: the sandfly, annoyed by the molecule, does not take the blood meal with the lethal effect that would lead to its death within 24 hours.

Deltamethrin acts rapidly on contact with the parasite. It has multiple effects:
- “Repellent effect”: Mosquitoes tend not to approach the host;
- “Knock-down effect”: Insects that manage to reach the host are affected by motor incoordination;
- “Anti-feeding effect”: Neurological signs prevent feeding;
- “Lethal effect”: The parasite is killed.

Deltamethrin, as contained in MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO ProtectorBand, is a local antiparasitic product characterized by almost insignificant skin absorption. Deltamethrin can also be used in pregnant and lactating bitches and in puppies from seven weeks of age.

Due to lack of data, the use of Scalibor® on puppies under 7 weeks of age is not recommended.

Deltamethrin, on the other hand, is particularly toxic to cats.

OWNER INFORMATION:
The innovative technology of direct release into the lipid layer of the skin optimizes the use of deltamethrin, and avoids the risk of dispersion of the active ingredient into the environment.

MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO is easy and convenient
Simply apply the Scalibor® collar to your dog as soon as the warm season begins to protect him from sandfly bites.

MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO acts for a long time
Thanks to the innovative release technology, Scalibor® Protector Band has a duration of action of 5 months against sandflies and 6 months against ticks and mosquitoes. One collar, a whole season of protection.

MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Deltamethrin spreads over the dog's skin forming a protective layer without being absorbed.

HOW TO APPLY:
1 - Insert the end of the collar into the buckle
2 - Make sure that two fingers fit between the collar and the dog's neck
3 - Cut off the excess collar leaving approximately 5 cm from the buckle.

The contact of the MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO collar with the dog's skin is essential to ensure its action. Before applying the collar, you can clean it with a cloth to remove dust.
Wash your hands with soap and water after placing the collar.

Precautions and warnings

The collar should be applied 1 week before the start of the sandfly "risk" season. Some local skin reactions have been reported. In case of a local reaction, remove the collar for 48 hours. The collar can usually be reapplied (possibly cleaned with a cloth) without a further reaction. If the reaction persists when the collar is reapplied, remove it and treat the dog with another product.

Scalibor can be used on puppies over 7 weeks old, in pregnant and lactating bitches.
Do not apply MSD Animal Health SCALIBOR PICCOLO on animals with extensive skin lesions.
Do not use in cats. For further helpful advice and more information, contact your Veterinarian.
