The Ortolano Gran Prato FLOWERY LAWN is a flowery lawn with a good aesthetic appearance and highly decorative, rapid establishment, good persistence and high planting density.
ON THE PACKAGING OF THE BOX IT SAYS: "Inside the box you will find a bag of grass seed and a sachet of daisy seed." In reality, THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN MIXED TOGETHER.
PRACTICAL TIPS FOR LAWN CREATION:
- Work the soil to a depth of about 20 cm, removing stones and weeds (also use herbicides in more serious cases) and then level it to avoid harmful water stagnation;
- Refine the clods on the surface and carry out an initial rolling;
- Broadcast sowing of grass seed in Spring (April-May) or Autumn (September-October) using crossed passages to promote better distribution of the seed; the sowing dose for optimal results is approximately 30-35 g/m2.
- Cover the seed (about 2 mm) with river sand or soil and roll it lightly again.
- Irrigate the sown surface moderately every day to maintain constant humidity and to avoid the formation of a surface crust until the seedlings emerge;
- Make the first cut with dry soil when the lawn has reached a height of 10 cm and maintain a cutting height of no less than 5 cm over time, then removing the cut grass. The daisy is a flower with a rather long germination cycle (biennial) therefore its sowing allows for its flowering in the following season, or at least several months after the lawn has been born;
- Water when necessary, avoiding doing so during the hottest hours of the day, and provide adequate fertilization during the cooler periods of the year, preferably using slow-release fertilizers.
