Not very demanding on the nature of the soil and exposure, it prefers sheltered places in the northern areas. Young trees fear strong frosts. 'Tipo-Loto di Romagna': astringent when harvested, the fruits should be eaten halved, about a month later, soft and sweet. 'Vanilla': sweet, not astringent when harvested if pollinated, it is eaten hard. 'Hana fuiju': called persimmon apple, large, quadrangular always edible (not astringent) when harvested, it is eaten with the consistency of an apple.
